do you guys see any reason why copper lines are not used in automotive applications other than the $?
i have a large ammount of free copper tubing and id like to use some of it for my trans cooler and fuel lines. i was just wondering if there was a reason ive never heard of it or seen it done befor.
thanks guys

Agreed, the flexing and vibration will work-harden the soft tubing and crack it. None of the sanctioned racing organizations allow the use of copper tubing because of safety issues.
well that does make sense, but if thats the only reason then i suppose i could still use a copper ac condenser for my tranny cooler, some one gave me a large ammount of ac parts and such and i have little use for it all right now i just thought i might get creative and cheap in setting up my trans cooler.

I know there is a reason for NOT using copper in tranny lines but it escapes me right now. I read it in one of the few hundered magazines I have in storage. I guess one to look at it is like this. If copper was any good then you would see aftermarket tranny coolers made from this stuff. Instead they all, even the "cheap ones",are made from aluminum.
