I bought my first Super Duty in march of this year. I was wondering if anyone could tell if putting a lift on my 05 6.0l would void my warranty. I am also interested in what is recommended in terms of system like Banks and Edge.
It *can* void parts of your warranty... the parts that are modified by the kit. Example given by Jeff was if you changed a wiring harness and your truck blew an electrical junction Ford *could* claim your harness caused the problem and not warranty it. But, if you broke an axel Ford can not say your harness caused the problem. Long story short... it is up to the shop what parts of the warranty get approved / denied, so pick a friendly shop
First and foremost, read the Warranty Guide booklet that came with the vehicle. This is Ford's official stance on modifications to the vehicle. Then do what Antacus reccomended and find out how "friendly" your dealership is on modifications.
I wish I could give you a more definitive answer on what will, or won't void your warranty, but it's just not possible. You may get a lot of answers from "arm chair" lawyers who will want to misquote the Federal Warranty Act, aka the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and tell you because of this act, your warranty can't be voided, but the truth is, whatever dealer you take it to will be the first arbiter of whether or not your particular warranty claim is voided or not. That's why finding out your dealers stance is important. If you want to read about the Warranty Act for yourself this is a good place to start --> Federal Warranty Act

In a perfect world, whatever you modify will not be covered under warranty. If you lift it, you are immediately voiding the warranty on your driveshafts, wheel bearings, axles, ball joints, tie-rods, you name it. But the dealer might cover it anyway if you're really nice...
They can't say that a tranny will blow because you lifted the truck (and put bigger tires on it). Likewise, the engine. Or the radio. Or the radiator. etc.... you get the idea.
My '96 t-bird had a Superchips and a 3.73 rear with Auburn LS... I had some funny creaking in the back that sounded like the splines where the axle/hub meet. I figured big $'s so I took it to the dealer where I bought it. They found one of the rear subframe mounts wasn't torqued down enough... problem solved. But imagine the extra torque to the ground that the 3.73 put down vs the stock 3.27. Did they refuse to do the diagnostics/labor after I told them of the mods? Nope...
