Error code help 1996 T-Bird

Can anybody give me some ideas where to start, I'm getting a P1151 - Lack of HO2S21 Switch- Sensor Indicates Lean. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That means that either the Oxygen sensor on bank 2 (right side, I think...) is either not reporting at all, or reporting a lean condition that the computer can't compensate for.

I think I'd first check to see if something has happened to the wiring pigtail at the sensor. If it is fine, it might just be time for new O2 sensors, especially if they came with the car.

Like most Ford modulars, clean the MAF first... check for vacuum leaks.

My '96 t-bird 4.6L gave the same code for a dirty MAF...

Well, I cleaned the MAFS, at the time I had no check engine light. I went to emissions testing and passed! Got half way back home and the check engine light came on again. I will check the wiring to the O2 senors today. Thanks for the help!

Cheers!

If you've got a Haynes for that car, it will give you the voltage/resistance values to indicate if the sensor is still good or not.
