Advice for code readers

I wasn't real sure where to put this post, but I'll try here first. I'm gonna get a code reader and would like some advice on which one to buy. (There's only several hundred available.) What about the equus 3100 for $100.00? Is that more than I should spend? Less? My truck is an '89 F150 XLT 4X4 Supercab w/5.8l EFI.

I just got one at O'Reilly for $35. It gives a digital read out, does K0EO, KEOR tests, timing, and other tests like the wiggle test, and cylender strength. It also comes with a fat book with all the codes and instructions.

The actron version is usually under $30 if your looking for just a reader.
Of course I like the cost of a paper clip even better evn though it took me a few tries to learn how to count.

My advise is to save the money and find a paper clip. A code reader can't do anything more than a paperclip can. Like Papa Tim said, once you get the hang of reading the blinks, it's no trouble at all.

Yea, after finding that post on fordfuelinjection.com I'm pretty sure I can learn to count the blinks. Besides I'm always up for saving a few bucks. Thanks guys. Adios for now.
