Hey guys i have a question... is it safe not to run the pan rode bar on the straight axle ? i raised my truck and the bar is to short. can i please have the pros and cons on this bar.. thanks.
Some guys run without them, and say its fine. I figure that if Ford ran it from the factory, bigger tires and a lift are only gonna add to the reasons to have one. If the bar is too short, buy an adjustable one, or at a minimum, but a longer trac bar. Id definitely get one back on there ASAP.
The spring shop I dealt with when I had my front lifted lengthened the trac bar (panhard bar) by cutting it, sliding a tube over and welding it at the desired length.
Skyjacker makes an adjustable trac bar, but i believe its kinda spendy. I've also heard of other people doing like Betaracer said, and modifying the stock trac bar to work.
yeah, even with a 2'' leveling kit, it raised the front enough to pull the axle to the left enough to make it a pain to get the springs to seat in the retaining hole. but when i got it in it was nice. i would not run without one. that puts too much lateral stress on the leaf springs, which is not needed. extremely hard on them when cornering. i would only NOT use one for a drag-racing-only truck, or a supreme flexer/rock crawler, where speed is slow, and articulation is important. i believe you do neither, so keep it on there.
