QT. you have been a wealth of information. Thank you for your response. It is a single opinion/experience however. I would still like to hear additional opinions or experiences on 87 octane max performance tunes from any type tuner, stock or custom. I gather that this is a relatively new product for most tuners on the 5.4 3V engine, but I also get the idea that more than half of you have modded the computer with some sort of device. What were your results?
Okay, my 5.4 3V 04 4x4 Screw put down 198 Hp at the rear wheels in its stock form on the dyno. After custom tuning I put down 240 the same day on the 93 octane towing tune. This was done with a bad mass air flow sensor on my truck that he had to tune around so there is still more power to be made.I will be going back to the dyno on November 19th in Salem Virginia with a new sensor and expect better results. There are still several opening left for this dyno event that you can attend. <!-- Check out the information over on f150online in the chips and programming section.....If I can be of any assistance in your endeavor to inprove your trucks performance feel free to contact me anytime.. -->
I don't doubt your improved HP numbers on the dyno. But I think to be fair to everyone here asking about this product, we need to see a dynosheet. An increase of 42 PEAK HP is not the same as 42 USABLE HP. If you top out at 240 at 6000, that is unusable HP. If you hit 240 at 3000 RPM's that is impressive...
More importantly for getting a 5000lb truck moving off the line, what are your Torque numbers? HP is nice but Torque gets you moving!
Again, I'm not doubting you, just need more info than we've seen so far...
Who knows? Maybe your tuner has found the magic solution.
Try making some phone calls to the Custom tuners. I have been looking for some power out of my 05 screw for some time and only one person has the Ba#$s to tell it how it is. Custom tunes will provide the best bang for your buck. I tune Fuel Injected Harleys as a past time and have first hand experience with the big talkers. It is a art that takes time and a vast amount of knowledge to perfect. I have not, by the way, Make the phone calls. It WILL answer your ?'s and concerns. Thanks again QT.

My truck made 300 lb ft at 3200 rpm, and the HP gain was well within my power band. Without the dyno sheet in front of me as <!-- Mike -->still has it as he is going over it to tweak my tunes, I can not be absolutely positive, but I believe it developed around 4300 to 4700 rpm. My 1-2 shift point at WOT is 5400 rpm, and my 2-3 is 5200rpm. My truck weighs 6300# with my 210# @ss in it and has run 15.87@87.5mph in the 1/4 mile. I am a drag racer as I have a 12.30's Lightning and a 11.22 '03 Cobra, both tuned <!-- by Mike T. --> and I have the 04 SCrew for a tow vehicle. I am not going to waste my time and yours by posting the dyno sheets here as I have discovered about 1/2 of the people who observe them still ask a thousand questions as they do not know what they are looking at.
Step up to the plate as Jims05Screw has done and invest in a few phone calls to the tuner of your choice. But as for me and my $$$$, I will continue going <!-- to Mike T. as he has proven time and time again that he is undoubtably the best tuner out there, has been doing it longer than anyone else in the business, and has the best customer service that I have seen in my 40+ years of tuning and drag racing... -->
By the way,my Lightning numbers are 495hp/624ftlb, and the Cobra's are 472hp/525ftlb, both well within a safe A/F of 11.5 to 12.0...

OK, so let's assume I am as ignorant about dynosheets as you assume...
How often is the "Average Joe" gonna be at WOT in his street truck?
Sure, you can make a lot of power, but if you never get into the powerband to realize it, then what's the point? Unless, of course, you are drag racing, or doing some serious off-roading or mudding...
I don't doubt your numbers, and i have seen people work wonders on Cobra's and Mustangs with the SCT unit, but there is no way you can expect any of us to believe you are seeing this increase in power and not suffering for it at the pump! Which leads me back to my original post, which basically said that you can get increased power or increased MPG, but rarely will you get both at the same time.
FWIW, I have talked to several SCT tuners, specifically the guys at JBA Racing here in San Diego. They may not be the best with an SCT tune, but they ain't no dummies either...<!-- PM me with Mike T's info, I'm really interested in speaking with him about my truck as well as a tune for my father-in-laws truck. -->
