I've got a 1959 F250 that I'm replacing the front leaf spring bushings on. I ordered the rebuild kit for my truck from Concours Parts and the bushing sizes I received don't match up to what I need.
The bushings on the front of my springs need two different sized bushings. I confirmed the kit specs with the company and what I was sent should have been correct with both shackle bushings the same size. As I got to looking through the catalog, the 61-66 rebuild kit looked to fit better and I ordered it instead.
Long story short, do you guys with 57-60 trucks have the same sized bushings top and bottom of the shackles? I'm wondering if my springs may have gotten swapped out with later springs. So far everything has been rusted solid so I wasn't suspecting a swap had happened until now.
As I recollect, mine are the same size top & bottom.
And I wouldn't put it past a former owner of your truck to Have Moded or Up-Dated or Grafted some other year parts onto your truck, it seems to be the thing to do
it turned out to be no big deal - a quick run down to the local spring shop yeilded the right size bushings. They were too long, but easy enough to cut. The inside and outside size was correct.
Next time I will not fool with ordering any, just take everything to the local guy. He will have all the parts I need on the shelf.
