I got my truck running after the battery kept draining it was either the ground on the EFI was too lose or the starter seleniod was bad just bought a new for 8 bucks but anyway I was driving it around and I was upto about 2krpm's when all of a sudden the rpm started shooting through 2k to 1k to 1500 back to 2k and so on and so forth but do youguys think it might be due to gas just sitting in the fuel lines or if you have any other ideas on what could be causing this please resond thank you~Kyle
P.S. it was sitting in the driveway for about a week and a half to 2 weeks thats the reason I pointed to the old fuel in the fuel lines sorry I didnt include that in the post above
doubt it. scan for codes. might be time for a tune up and fuel filter replacement. also check all your plug wires making sure they are seated properly and are not cracked or worn out. if so replace. i would also check your timing. which ground on the efi were you talking about?
The ground on the EFi is coming from the fire wall right behind all the junk for the A/C the actual ground is bolt on the passengerside of the engine it really don't make sense though the EFI is made out of Aliminum and it can be grounded but yeah I was looking on Summit yesterday for new tune-up parts I was thinking of going with A: MSd Coil Blaster,MSD Rotor and cap and some 9mm wires orB: The Accel tune-up kit but I was woundering with the MSD is there anything special I would have todo besides gapping the plugs a little larger?
Do mean the ECU - Electronic Control Unit as in for repairing my computer but I went to a local performance shop today to look at a new MSD set just for MSD wires and a rotor cost near 130 but he said it was the spark plug wires causing the strange rpm reading but to check the...forgot what it was called but it mounts right on the throttle body I think it was Idle Air Control maybe but yeah a new one from ford cost 105 so I think I'ma hold on that one butanyway yeah sorry its 3 in the am and I dead tired
I had found some MSD Spark plug wires for my bronco everything seems to match up they are for a 351 same angle boot so on and so forth the only thing that doesnt match up is the years I have a 96 and these are made for a 79 do you think this would cause a problem?
Wires are wires just make sure you route them real good and have seperaters on them . you can take the IAC off and clean it with carb cleaner but if its acting up usually it throws a code. but its cheap maintenence right. I think you can pass on the msd cap/rotor to for now. the wires and an msd coil would be more important but after you figure out why its running weird
