Alternate Auto Refrigerants
i also placed this in the A/C forum.
has anyone heard of or used these refrigerants: Enviro-Safe, Freeze-12, Glacier Gold Hydrocarbon Refrigerants. i found a website www.AutoRefrigerants.com and they make some clams that this stuff is ULTRA EFFICIANT one 6oz can is equal to 18oz of R-12 and is 9.4*F colder. and one 6oz can equal to 16oz of R-134 and is 15.4*F colder. and it take's less pressure to compress it so it save's your compressor also saving you horsepower and gas. AND IT'S CHEAP!! also require's NO license and you can buy it though the mail. is this stuff to good to be true. they also make some HIGH-TECH lubircants. they also make stuff for your home A/C units R-22 and R-502 freezer units. and you can put R-502 in your home unit and be blowing out arouund 30*F. that sure would be nice in my 24'x24' garage in the middle of summer here in AZ. check out the site and let me know what you guys think of it. i would love to get some of this stuff.

You've stumbled across something I know about. R-12, Freeze 12 must have a license to buy. Ozzy 12 is the propane refridgerant and is illegal.
The bottom line is: MONEY!!!!
R134A can be bought off the shelf for about $6 for 12oz. Many machine shops will retro fit your soft lines to "barrier lines". Replace your expansion device. Replace your compressor if you can afford it. If you can't, Get the old oil out as best you can. Flush you old system out with compressed air and something that evaporates rapidly. I use carb cleaner but I cannot officially recommend it. Add the correct oil for 134A. Vacuum your system down and fill it up. It's that simple, kinda.
