Thumbs down vin

how do you break down the vin. to tell what every number or letter means? I have a used 2001 screw cab and am trying to figure it out gear ratio etc.

I have @ websites that will help you decode the vin on the door jamb and teach you what the numbers and letters mean and how to tell your gear ratio. Email me if you would like the address of them.

There should be a tag on the differential cover on your rearend. It will have the gear ratio. It will read like this: 3 55 or 3L55. The L indicates that the rearend is limited slip. No L means it is an open differential. U may also have 3 23 3L23 or 3 73 3L73. It will depend on the gears u have. Hope this helps.
