Well for about 3 months now my explorer when shifting into any gear at any speed basically slams into gear, sometimes are worse then others but it is usually rather hard. One U Joint about a year ago went bad and was replaced. I have 129,000 miles on it. When in gear it does not miss or slip, still has very solid acceleration just not when shifting. About once every 2-3 months when I put it into Drive I have to give it a lot of gas to get it to actually move and then it is fine. No fluid has ever been visible on the ground. Tranny Fluid is good. Had Tranny Flushed about 1 1/2 months ago and didn’t make much of a difference with the shifting Problem. Please Help, Hope It’s a Cheap Solution

The transmission has had two major problems that Ford has updated since. One is the low/reverse and O/D servos harden and cause shifting troubles these are external and a relative easy fix. The second is the valve body gasket blows out and causes all kinds of trans concerns in cluding some of the ones you list. This is an internal problem that involves removing the trans pan and removing the valve body. A little more involved but still not a difficult job. You need to have the computer checked for codes which some parts stores will do for free. There still could be something more happening but you'll need to start with the codes first.
Thanks FOr the help!, My father and i checked the codes and there were 2 codes stored, 1 was for the oxygen sensor which was replaced and fixed now and the other was for a leak in my gas line somewhere, no code was found to have any relation with the transmission,
Well the concerns that I brought up may or may not set codes. The valve body concern can be diagnosed sometimes by putting the trans into manual first gear and see if when you give it gas up to 15-25 MPH if when you let up the trans will slow you down. This is called engine braking and if it is not present then the valve body gasket is blown out and needs replaced. The code for the fuel leak could be because some one left the fuel filler cap loose or the seal on the cap is damaged. Also make sure the fuel filter has the fuel lines attached and secured.
