out in the junkyard i found a pair of strange heads, they are for a small-block sized v8 and have a hemi design where the intake rockers have their pivits above the pushrods and vice versa for the exhaust rockers, but unlike dodge hemi's the sparkplugs for these go in right abouve the exhaust manifold like most v8's instead of going throught the valvecovers that were held down by two bolts going through the cover. the ports were also evenly spaced, there was an intake nearby that looked like it would match up, it was aluminum, had one of the tiny old 2bbl carbs on it, and the engine would have to have a seperate pan to cover the lifter valley. i will try to get a pic when i go back on wednesday. but does anyone have any clue what these are off of?
The heads sound like they came from a Brazilian made V-60. It was a motor designed from an old V-60 Ford flathead block, and adapted with aluminum hemi heads by Chrysler, designed by Duntoff[?]. Displacement for those motors was around 145 cu in and hp around 135. If that is what they are, they are circa 1957, and off of a Simca, a line that Chrysler bought into in those years. www.fbva.com.br/images/museus/motoresplanada.jpg is a picture of the above.
