Noise problem
My truck makes a sound like metal on the rotor. Checked the rotors (smooth), brakes, I have plenty of brakes left (carbon metallic) they're fine. Shop says sounds like bearings, but they just put in upper and lower ball joints, shouldn't they of seen my bearings? So, my husband and I have been doing process of elimination.
I locked the hubs, threw it in all the gears, and it still made the noise. It only happens around 20 miles per hour. Doesn't do it in reverse in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive.
I tightened up bolts all around the body, and underside (caught a couple of loose ones, but didn't help the problem).
I had my spedometer fixed. Hadn't worked in 5 years. The shop changed the plastic gear in it. Said my cable is shot, so that's why my needle bounces around.
Anybody have any ideas? I'm going to take my video camera for a drive, and see if I can catch the sound on tape.
