Need advice
I’m looking for F-350/F-250 crew cab, SRW, long bed, pre-owned trucks. I see these trucks for sale in local dealership around my house: now, I need to decide which one to buy?
1) 2003 7.3 L 60K miles for $27K
2) 2001 F-250 5.4L 60K miles, at 23K. This is bit expensive because it has bigger tires and some after market products.
3) Others like 2003 F250 5.4L, 40K average miles, at lower $20K.
My usage/needs,
1) Occasional light weight hauling.
2) Fuel economy – lower MPG.
3) I do average of 12K miles per year.
4) Can you please tell me which one is better for me Diesel 7.3L/6.0L or Gasoline 5.4L/6.8L? All in all I’m looking at a trouble free maintenance.
5) My budget 20K-24K.
6) Purpose of buying a truck- Love to ride big fords truck and part of the reason why I’m in USA

Personally I would say a gasser is better suited for your needs but often times it comes down to want, buy what you want otherwise you'll regret you decision. As far as pros and cons of each do a search as this subject has been beaten like a dead horse. Just go to the V10 forum or under the SD forums there are current threads debating the issues on this subject.

Vjay, I had a 2001 Screw 5.4. When I traded it in 4/05 it had 39k miles on it I got 14500. Dealer has it for sale at 19k. It did just fine towing my jetski. Gas mileage sucked. 12-13 city and the best I saw freeway was 19 towing just air. I now have a 2004, bought new 4/2005. It is a screw 6.0. Both were lariats. I love my 6.0. Mileage is 16 city and 20-21 hwy. Deisel was cheaper but now it is more. Oil changes run me $35-$40, I do it myself. So, the gasser might be cheaper but if you are going to keep it. Then 6.0 will hold it's value better. Check out edmunds and kelly blue book online to see if you are getting a good deal.
