All guages went dead...

All guages went dead...
I was double checking the guages before mounting the cluster, and all of the sudden they're all dead. I checked the connection to the fuel tank sending unit and it worked but the guage didn't as well as the oil and temp.
the guage cluster lights work as well as the high beam indicator, but no guages.
I looked up how to check the voltage regulator and I placed a test light from ground to the back of several guages and got nothing.
Is this sound like the voltage regualtor and where do you get a new one.

If not ,I have a few here.
I just posted a photo of one on the electrical forum.
Did you put a testlight on the harness side of the connectors with the key on to check for pulsing power ?

Funny thing is that I spent half the day at the junk yard looking for good ***** and trying to pull some 4x4 front hubs and passed by several of them.
I wonder why it worked fine yesterday and went dead when I re-installed it today.

All guages went dead...
Sometimes all that is wrong is that the regulator has been bumped and has lost it's connections. Try removing it, using some very fine sandpaper to remove oxidation on the copper pads and regulator connections. Smear on some dielectric grease, and replace it. Works 90% of the time. Check the calibration on your guages after that. If the gas tank is near empty drain it down some and check the reading, then fill the gas tank and check the reading. Adjust at the full mark. I have also been known to deform the regulator tab to increase contact pressure.
