carb spacer??
I have a 351W in a 78. I recently put an edelbrock intake manifold in place of the stock 4BBL manifold. The old manifold had an egr spacer between it and the carb. It was necessary because without it the throtle linkage would hit the manifold. the new manifold (dual plane) is tall enough that I dont need a spacer for clearence. Is a spacer required for any other reason? I am not concerned about pollution control.

A carb spacer can increase your torque, so for no other reasons, I'd re-install it. Also a good spacer helps prevent heat soak from causing hard hot starts.
