Does anyone run an upgraded turbo, I am trying to squeeze all the power out of my 2001 F350 4x4, I plan to buy the banks intercooler, I already have a banks 4inch exhaust, and a airaid intake I have a programmer on the way, just looking for more ponnies.
Who makes a aftermarket ball bearing turbo?? I was looking at getting the banks Quickspool turbo housing, compressor wheel, and Big Head Wastgate acturator, but that would leave me with the stock turbo.
Get an ATS compressor housing, wicked wheel(compressor wheel), and disconnect your wastegate line. Save you a little money and get the same outcome. Banks is very expensive.

Exactly. You can get much cheaper products that are comparable. Now don't get me wrong...Banks makes excellent products. I just think that you are paying a lot for the name.
i was gonna put the mid-range banks kit on my mule.. cost with out installation was gonna be around $2800... i did all the mods listed for just over $1200... i'm sure Banks makes great stuff... but i honestly don't think my truck would run any better with thier stuff than it does now...!
Don't get me wrong. Banks makes quality products. I have a Six gun tuner, but I am starting to wonder if I should just bought a selectable chip instead. The safety features on the Six Gun are what sold me on it.
Actually from what I said above about getting an ATS housing and the wicked wheel. I heard that the ATS takes care of the compressor surge on its own so you wouldn't have to get a wicked wheel. It's a little above $400 for the housing, but hey, it's bigger than stock. It can only help
i got the gtp38r bb turbo it is spendy but well worth the expense 35% more air over the stock turbo
will be able to put bigger injectors in with out blowing too much black soot and the turbo whine is pretty loud also .
with open element intake turbo stall and surge completly gone so is the turbo flutter.

i may end up doing this at some point... but... the ww has been such an improvement that i am hoping when i tow up into the mountains this weekend i don't have any more turbo flutter/stall... we will see..!

Don't forget to put in the TOW/HAUL tune. With that big trailer behind you, that's all you'll want to run.

you got that right..! it's a shame though that you can't use the 85hp tune... the truck runs soooooo good with that tune..! i think the fact that i got all the hose clamps tightened up good will also make a huge difference in engine performance while towing..! i am going to write a nice long post when i get back..! (long post... heh... like i could write anything else...! )
