2004 Tranny Failure
After driving around my immediate nieghborhood it totally failed in the forward gears.
It does go backwards just fine. I managed to get it in the driveway.
I just had the tranny flushed a couple of weeks ago by my Ford dealer. Could it be something was not done correctly.
Any ideas? Fluid level is perfect and red but it smelled burnt.
I have the towing package but never towed.
I noticed another post that pretty much said the same thing.
What gives?
Bob
On the last tranny the dealer conceded that foreign fluid was getting into tranny somehow (at first they as much as accused us of pouring coolant into the tranny filler)
Anyway, with the last tranny install, they got the approval from the higher-up ford mucky mucks to replance the entire tranny, lines, cooling system, radiator, and lines. Now 30k later everything is fine... still.
I dont know if it is true, but someone told me the the tranny fluid is circulated thru the radiator in a closed system for cooling, and probably they leak was somewhere there.
Anyway, that is my experience. Maybe it will help.
Best of luck
