Well, I am building a 69` F-250, ground up. I have the drive train installed (360, C6) and I want to make sure everything runs. As of today, it will turn over, but it wont start up and run. I think it might be an electrical problem, but I am up for any suggestions. Here is the set-up:
- I have a cable running from the starter to the side of the "starter solenoid"
- I have a cable running from the other side of the "starter solenoid" to the positive terminal on the battery
- I have a cable running from the engine block to the negative terminal on the battery
- I have a wire running from the front of the "starter solenoid" to the ignition coil
- I have a wire running from the distributor to the ignition coil
I have fuel comming to the carb, and the timing is all set. That leaves wiring I think. I am starting the truck with a small push button starter, one cable connects to the front of the "starter solenoid" and the other cable connects to the side of the "starter solenoid" (the one that connects to the positive battery). It turns over, but it wont keep running- any ideas? Thank you.

are you sure that your power to the coil is not hooked up to the side of the starter selonoid that only has power when the switch is in the start position?? Try just running a hot wire to the +side of the coil.
Well its either fuel, spark, or compression. Are you sure you timed the motor correctly? Is your distributor installed correctly? Pull off the coil wire and see if you have spark.

It seems like the wire running from the front of starter solenoid to the ignition coil is at fault. Try running a hot "+" positive wire from the ignition switch which has power in the run position and start position and not juiced in the off position. __________________________________________________ _________________ "1975Ford"

Thanks guys. The next chance I get I will hook up a positive wire to the coil, and hope she roars! 1975Ford- I do not have an ignition switch hooked up, so I am just going to skip that and tap right into the battery. Thanks again.
