dash lights
looking for help wiyh dash light problem. whenever i turn on lights fuse for dash lights blow,even when i disconnect wiring harness from back of cluster,have also changed headlight switch.truck is 79 f-150 2wd sb ext cab,can anyone help?

The wire you are concerned with is a lightblue/red. You have eliminated the instrument cluster, but there are several other places this wire goes to. One place to look is the radio, especially if an aftermarket radio has been installed, and there could be a wiring error over there.
See if there are any other lightblue/red wires going to illuminate the lettering at the heater controls, and any other lettering you might can find that may have a bulb behind them.

That circuit only goes to a few places - cluster, headlight/wiper light, heater control light, radio, auto gear selector and ashtray light (optional). Look over the wiring and check bulbs - even a blown bulb can cause a short.
