Found a '56 F600 flatbed for sale that has a 17,000 lbs GVW on the data tag in the door jamb. Is that the weight of the truck plus its load or just the load by itself?

Also, this has the extra button on the stick shift. Is this the 2 speed rear? How does it work?

GVW= gross vehicle weight. this is the truck and load combined.

The extra button on the shifter is the switch for the 2 speed rear end. In one position its in a lower gear ratio in the other its in a higher ratio

I have a F600 for sale here in the 48-60 FTE classified section, check it out!

bigwin, I've seen your truck in the ads and looks like the local truck here except this truck has a dark grey paint job but its peeling off the firewall which is light yellow underneath. The truck was inspected 4 yrs ago, seat's been recovered, solid floors and body but the engine is supposed to be tired.

So with the 2 speed rear, do you start off with button down and then pull it up once your rpm's are up? And do you use the 2 speed rear when the truck has no load on it?
