I just did a simple spark plug and cap and rotor change on my old mans 94 F150 300 six. When all was done and ready, I go to start her up and nothing! I check for spark and there is none. All the parts are fine. I checked voltage at the coil leads, and had 12volts. I checked the output of the coil during start up and it simply drops. I tried a new coil with the same results and returned it immediately. Ive been reading other posts with similar problems and it seems that people have been changing complete ignition systems still with no luck, and I dont want to take that route. Does that little condenser near the coil have anything to do with getting spark? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Did you forget to put the rotor in. The voice of experiance
I also ended up changeing just about everything one time to find out there was a wire in the harness that had corroded through to the point that I would get 12 volts with my meter but it couldnt carry enough current to fire the coil.
Double check that the right spark plugs were used? and were the spark plugs properly gapped prior to installation?
Remove the coil wire and verify if you have spark at the coil.
Could be a bad coil wire, check that also.
Check all electrical contacts and wires from the coil to the distributor housing.
Verify that no electical connection on harness was accidently removed or loosened when installing the new parts.
Verify all electrical connections and wires from module to coil.
Just a few check before you start removing and replacing parts.
