C6 fluid overflow?

C6 fluid overflow?
I have an 83 E-350 RV with a C6 that hasn't been driven in over 6 months. The tranny fluid level was normal on the last trip, but now I see a big stain under the tranny and fluid on the case. I suspect it's coming from the overflow, as the stick is indicating significantly overfull cold.
Could the TC have drained into the pan and overflowed while parked for that long?
Any possible problems with running it to check the fluids hot?
