Need help from experienced mechanic
got about 3/8" play in the automatic trans shift lever located on the steering col. Does not appear to be in the cable to the trans...I think problem is in linkage under the dash but I cannot properly check it out as I have vertigo and cannot get focussed properly to check it out....Does anyone know if this is an easy fix and how much it will cost...Input appreciated.This is 1995 od 302ci

Had some play in my shift lever once. It turned out to be the bracket at the transmission end of the flex cable where it mounts on the side of the tranny. The bracket was cracked. It was made out of plastic! I don't know what a new one cost. I made one out of steel. Won't have to fix that again. Good luck.
