Here I am again asking for advice, this time on shocks. I have a 1978 E150 with 351 & automatic. My old Monroe-Matics are in need of replacement. I am quadriplegic and I sit in my wheelchair while riding in my van. I have a bad back so I need shocks that will give me a ride that doesn't jar my back. I never town anything and there is never a lot of weight hauled in the van - me in my wheelchair weigh around 350lbs. and sometimes it's used to haul a few (2-3) 50 lb. bags of corn.
I've called a couple of auto parts stores. The first one told me that I want the Monroe Sensa-Trac light truck shocks. A second parts store told me that the Sensa-Trac rides pretty much the same as the Monroe Magnum. Back before I bought my present Monroe-Matics I tried Monroe Magnums and they were way too stiff.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
If I were you I would go with an adjustable shock, such as Rancho so you can pick the ride best suited for you. That way you can even have two different rates for the front and back axles.
That sounds like a GREAT idea! I didn't know that such a shock existed. This could really help my back pain and make going out fun again. Now if gas prices would come down.
