expedition sub wiring

I bought a sub for my 2000 expedition on ebay and went to install it and no harness was in the truck, I have the pigtail that plugs into the sub and I bought the eight pin pigtail from the dealership but all of the wires are black. Can someone help with which wires go where.

Thanks alot in advance

the best thing to do is get an aftermarket head unit and
an external or seperate power amp-- to start

I've been out of the industry for a few years, but sounds like you have an aftermarket sub and are trying to use a factory harness to wire it. Your factory harness is probabaly meant to be used with a factory amplifier, which is usually located behind the passenger side rear panel, below the window. That's where they were on some Explorers. May be different on the Expeditions.

In any event, you may not have a factory amp. So, If you have an aftermarket sub, use an aftermarket amplifier which would require running fused power from your battery, and a low level signal from your head unit. (a high/low adaptor can be used and wired from the speaker outputs of your factory head unit, while you're there, you'll need to run an amp turn-on wire, and a good idea would be to clip the factory radio ground wire and run the ground back to where you ground the amp).

It is a factory sub also, I just need what color of wire on the pigtail of the sub goes to what wire on the plug that goes into the back of the radio(they are all black on the replacement harness)
