Is Pennzoils purebase something super special? Castrol and Valvoline don't have a purebase conventional do they? And from what I hear, Val and GTX never cause sludge problems when used properly.
I never hear anyone say anything about Pennzoil here and wonder why.
well the "sludge" problems were in the 80's with most oils it is old news. it does not even apply anymore. sludge is a by product of driving habits. you won't get sludge if the oil is always brought up to temp and there is no water in the oil. with that said purebase is a GP II/II+ it is just like the chevron ISOSYN which is where shell got the idea.

Don't forget engine design and OCI intervals as additional modern-day causes of sludge...
