On my son's 1997 F150 XLT 2wd, the 16" wheels were 7" wide. You can put a 285 on the wheel without major problems. Any thing wider should go on an 8" wheel.
Alright, i know this is a stupid question but.. what do the numbers represent when they say 285/75/16... i know the 16 is the wheel, but which directions to the 285 and 75 mean?
They say 7.5" wide on the website for goodyear, but i would think it would be the same for all tire manufacturers. I'm going with cooper M/T's I think.

Thanks for the response.
