[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-May-02 AT 07:57 PM (EST)]Explain eating starters(what are they doing)? Have you checked your flywheel for cracks or the ring gear teeth ?
The only thing that comes to mind is the possibility of the wrong flywheel, cracked or broken ring gear or a rash of bad starters-(have had this happen on my sisters impala went through several before i got a good one).
I'd check for proper alignment, you might have to shim up the starter if it's pushing out too far. You can test this by pushing out the starter gear and looking at where it lands on the flywheel.
Also, someone might have swapped flywheels on you (previous owner).
I like to put some grease on my gears just to help out a bit too.
