OK, have an '06 F250 4X.. I have 1200 miles on it and I've been chasing an oil leak that I thought was assembly lube..
Oil ends up on the bell housing, but it's not coming from the rear main. As I removed the inspection cover and no oil within the bell housing or on the rear main..
I see some oil on top of the starter, where could this be coming from??
The funny part is that it doesn't leak all the time.. Sometimes I'll put 200 miles on it and no leak, others I'll put 50 miles and when I inspect it, there it is..
maybe a head, or a valve cover. but with only 1200 miles I would take it to the dealership. That should be coverd under warenty. If you dont want to do that try putting the oil die in the system. That will help you determin the point of the leak. GL

My 05 PSD does the same thing, this truck runs great Im happy with it, but Ive come to realize it has its quirks. I had the front main seal leak, its fixed. I did notice some leakage of oil from the head area on both sides near the starter also. Then one time I thought I noticed possible antifeeze oily remants near the heads also. Then another time I check it and all appears OK. I think Ill quite checking it and just drive it!
Mountaincat900...U got it! Just drive it. I never lift the hood except to check bodily fluids of the engine...once in a while. If oil begins to show up in the driveway, then I'll get excited.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not **** about things, but a $45K truck just shouldn't do this. This is my second '06, the first leaked so much that they undid the deal and let me get another truck.
