Cranking when it should'nt

Cranking when it should'nt
When I shift from reverse to nuetral on a 1977 F-150 the starter kicks in for a mili-second.Truck won't crank but in Park or N. Any ideas? And Thank You Veterans.

I'd check the neutral safety/start switch.
