Hey there. I had my 75' out in the dunes playing. Boy that thing can bounce! I have one rancho per corner RS5000. Is there any way to settle down the bouncing? My dad was driving it and said that at one point the truck kept bouncing (and pulling the throttle because of the motor mount and stupid throttle setup) and he couldnt sotp it. It kept bouncing a few feet off the ground per bump and finally the coil wire popped off. Would adding another shock per corner help? How aobut upgrading to some other shocks? Thanks for the help.
Something doesn't sound right....those RS5000s should be ok assuming they've recently been replaced and assumed working.
If you jump on the bumper, how long does it take to stop bouncing? It shouldn't really do much after you stop jumping. I have had the RS5000s before...they're a good truck shock.
I have a related problem (4.0L 4x4 Supercab with Offroad package) and I just put new <gasp> Napa cheapy gas shocks on all 4 wheels in hopes of softening out the stiff springs. I had to drive it 200 miles from Portland to Seattle today and it was like riding a bucking bronco!
Did I do the wrong thing? The guy at Napa said it would help, but I'm thinking it made it worse. On smooth highway it would ride nice and smooth... almost like a car with the new soft shocks. But not much highway is smooth, and the not-smooth parts are sending me to the chiropractor for my back!
Any suggestions for smoothing out the stiff bounces? It seems to mostly be coming from the front. I heard there was a way to loosen the torsion bar... would that help?
Yeah thatds what I heard. They look new and I believe they atre. If I bounce it it seems to bounce a tiny bit for like say 3 seconds after. I am ognna double up with some new shocks I think that way ill have new ones plus the old ones. I think it sohuld do oK, but I am also converting to leaf spring front end and 1 ton stuff..
