Odd Brake Behavior..

The brakes on my truck in general seem very good. However, every once in a while the pedal goes to the floor and there's no braking. It seems to happen when you are coasting and then you break a few times and suddenly you step down and your foot goes to the floor with no stopping action.

It doesn't do this very often.. maybe once every few days. I've checked the brake fluid several times and it is fine.

I don't know a heck of a lot about vacuum driven brakes so .. mmm.. ya.. maybe I'll do some reading. Looking for ideas on this though.

hold your foot on the pedal with a little pressure, if it slowly drops to the floor, replace the master cylinder

Ditto what buzz said, even if it doesn;t go with soft pressure, the master is the only piece that can cause that without using a load of fluid.

It's the master cylinder. I have had one do this to me in the past. Replace it before it does that when you really need to stop.

ditto on the master they'er relitivly cheap and if you do it right you don't even have to beed the system

Cool, thanks guys. I did a bunch of reading so now I actually understand it all even

.

I'm thinking my brake booster might not be working right either.. I'll look into all of it while I'm at it.

Replace the master cylinder.
