I have the Torqshift in a motorhome behind the V10. I've put 4K miles on it and like it so far. Think it is a big improvemnt over the E4OD.
Owners manual is vague on operation so I'll ask, maybe a tec or someone who knows how it works will give me some insite.
The unit is an E450 Superduty pulling 4.56 gears. Weight, pulling a Jeep is around 18Klbs.
I love the way the V10 will pull down strong to 1700rpm by feathering the throttle and yet gives no indication of lugging.
Seems like the tranny works better and shifts down to 4th and makes 4th a usable gear if I stay out of T/H mode. If I run in T/H it downshifts to 3rd, a thousand rpm increase where the V10 would hang to the haul a long time if it would stay in 4th.
So I know how it seems to operate best for me, how does it work best for longivity of the hardware?
Will it hurt, damage, cause premature wear by not running in T/H.
thanks,
ray
As long as it isn't hunting, leave it wherever you like best. If it starts shifting between gears a lot, then force it into one or the other. That pretty much works for all automatics.
