I have a 03 f350, with the 6.0 turbo diesel. and the battery light wont shut off. we have had the recall done. and the alternator is brand new, and is charging. both batteries are good, and hold a full charge. but the light is always on. some times it will flicker, and even shut off. for a little bit. but if you hit a good bump it will be back on. I think that maybe I have a short some were, but can't find a wiring diagram for the charging system of that truck. and the ford dealer is not much help. they said to check the conecttions to the battery. they are tight and clean. any help would be great.
The regulator in the primary alternator turns the light out as far as I know. I do know they do some technical stuff watching both batteries. Have someone watch the light while you wiggle the wires on the back of the alt's the small wires. On most systems the wire to turn off the light comes from the regulator..You could have a bad reg or like you said a bad connection..wiggle wires while someone is watching the light.
Take your tie off and your hippie chain when over the engine. LOL Good luck
I've seen terminals get corroded and the corrosion actually travel down into the cables (under the insulation) where the real problem exists. Play around with the cables, flex them a bit (a "crunchy" feeling is bad), etc. to see what happens.
