I want to put a nice padded steering wheel(something better than the thin thing that they came with) in my 77 f-350, and was wondering what others have installed on their trucks
I found a new three spoke chrome wheel with fat rubber rim at the wreckers. I got it and the adapter splines for 10 bucks. I priced the same wheel at the store for 50 bucks and another 35 for the adapter.
CAD prices. If you want a pic, I can send you one. It looks great in there! The original horn didn't work and I couldn't find a problem in the wiring, so I ran new wire to the horn and a push button mounted under the column... I had a wheel like this before, and the horn never worked properly anyway... ended up shorting and the horn was in the on position!

I run a Ford Stock "GT" style 3 spoke style rim. I've seen them in F-Series Ranger trim 70's pickups and 70's/early 80's Mustangs. Ebay always has some for sale.
Here is the Grant wheel I got fron the wreckers. It is the smaller Grant wheel. I found a larger one at the store if you are into that. I find this the right size for me.

I like that. Something a little thicker in the hands. The thin wheel Ford gave us just doesnt fit the brute strength and power that the truck calls out for
You might have to get used to the smaller radius of this wheel... It takes smaller inputs to correct your steering with ruts or crosswinds.
Otherwise, it is a pretty nice feel! The horns never work for me on these wheels, so I rig up a horn button below the column where you don't see it. (the steel column mount found on pre-'78 trucks... they switched to a larger, plastic column shroud in the later years, where you could actually pull the wiring connector through.)
