I have two questions, the first one is how to I identify the Dif gearing in my truck using the door sticker? there is no way in hell I will ever be able to read the one on the axle. My other question is when I finish my 460 this summer, how hard would it be to put a 5-speed in my '79 4x4, it just has an I6 right now, with a 4 speed, and a 1 piece drive shaft. would this requier me to move the transfercase back? new drive shaft as well/or??? any help would be great!!!
3.5 eh hmmm, i might just be swapping that one out, hey my buddy might have said he has a set of 3.5 in his shop, but yeah i might change to a possi, i am only 5 hours away from you, i am in BC and I am moving to Calgary in september. I will check and see if my buddy has those still, and if you want we might be able to swap parts or some thing.
Ben
I thought a limited slip was like an open diff kinda thing where if you try to do a burn out just one spins, and a possi was similar but both wheels spin, how ever when i spin oput in dirt both spin but only one on pavement. it won't be hard to find me in calgary, just look for the white '79 parked on things and in funny spots ( my own parking style from BC )
I would guess this truck has 4:10 gears thats what my 79 300 4 speed came with. Ive found the 6 cylinder trucks nearly always have 4:10's in them. The ones ive seen anyway
