Which 5.4 do I have?

I have a 1999 Expedition Eddie Baur. The motor is locked up. My question is: how do I tell which 5.4 I have? Where do I look for numbers?

what do you mean? they are all the same sohc 5.4. not to be confused with the lincoln motors.

Well - the suppliers I talk to are showing 3 different 5.4's for 1999. The " Power Improved", and two different SHOC's, one has upper intake dowel holes, the other has lower intake holes. Just need to figure out which one so my core won't be messed up.

the PI was after 2001 it involved more spark plug hole threads. which alos gave it 0 more hp. yours should have the lower intake holes.

PI heads were introduced in 99 and gave about 20 more horses.

ha ha my mistake. there should have been a 3 in front of the zero. before it was a 230 hp engine after it was a 260 hp.
