Ok.. i was at a parts store the other day gettin some stuff and this OLD guy.. yes.. i said old.. i'm 23.. everything over 40 is old to me. anyway. he was a vietnam vet I think because of his license plates. he was in there gettin some octane boost for his trailblazer (03-04 maybe) and was asking what the difference was between a couple of them with a guy that worked there and he said he wanted the best one because it had a corvette motor in it. so i turn around and i'm like.. WHAT? in a trailblazer? god.. WHY? last I knew they only offered a v6 in them i think.. 280hp maybe? *shrugs*
Anyway.. he told me that GM put out like 300 experimental trailblazers with corvette engines in them. he said he has to go to the dealership once a month so they can hook it up to computers and whatnot to check on things. he also said that his has been modded with a chip, exhaust, and intake and makes 400rwhp on a chassis dyno. I of course didn't get to seeeee it because i wasn't really thinkin at that moment, but it did have V8 badges on the fenders and it sure sounded like a vette, whether it's from the factory or not, that's no v6. he said that he was told they were gonna be made available to everyone for 06.. so I guess if they do come out with them then he wasn't bs'in me. i'm still kinda questioning it.. i mean.. he must know someone who works for GM or maybe HE works for them. i don't know.. but i'm sure you can't just waltz into a dealership and say "Hi, do you have any experimental vehicals I can purchase? Perhaps one with a Vette motor?". I still wouldn't mind takin' it for a drive. Vietnam vets and there VA checks... when will they ever learn.
but why would he need octane booster? wouldnt chevy want their test subjects to run on regular gas i mean would they really want everyone getting octane booster everything they get gas, the ods might explain it but i dont know why they would want mods on their tests either thats the after markets job.
a corvetter trailblazer seems possible i mean isnt that what they srx or whatever that cadillac thing is called? putting the engine in the trailblazer would mean it would steal a lot of sales from the higher priced version though.
well he wasn't getting it like it was an every fill up thing. i guess he was losing gas mileage. from bad gas maybe? I don't know. but he said he was wanting to try it to see if it'd go back up. said he was getting 14 now and WAS getting 16 before.

Geez, you aren't looking to make too many friends here calling people over 40 "old".
I also personally find your tone about vets(specifically Vietnam vets) very offensive. The Vetrans of Vietnam deserve all the respect and admiration that their comrades in previous wars recieved.
And this is a nit pick point, but the Trailblazer has a straight six, not a V.
oh, and i agree on the mods. i thought that was weird too to be putting mods on something experimental. unless they wanna see what happens to it that way.. who knows
oh.. i'll say what i want about vets. at least my dad. i have a bad spot when it comes to the military because of him. if that's what the military produces then i want no part of it. he got grenade shrapnel in a knee and because of that had 8 kids and made sure they all lived a life of hell because of his "pain". not only does he do nothing for work and has never worked a real job in his life, but he rips the government off so he can live a better life with more spending money. he's done things such as falsify records and wear neck braces and limp extra good. he says he can't work, but he sure does a damn good job of walking several miles a day, getting in and out of a car and truck several times a day, needs no cane or crutches, cleans his house like he was a maid and makes sure that he receives his 4 grand of tax free money a month so he can go to casinos in nevada and live life like he has no kids instead of 8. not to go on a rant or anything. but i've had enough mental abuse and physical abuse from that "man" to consider myself a vietman vet of my own.
I might start having flashbacks for him. lol. i wasn't saying anything from my previous posts with a bad tone, i try to make fun of my past in order to cope with it. i'm sure not all vets are worthless. but this one bad apple has made it hard for me to see things the way i should. and sorrrry about the V6 *shrugs* don't worry if you're over 40. i'm 23.. over a quarter of my life is done so i'm not far behind
The TrailBlazer in 02 had only a straight 6 (just traded my wife's in). I think in 03 a V6 was available and the 5.3 V8 is available now. The 'Vette powered one is an 06 model and is called the SS.
well holy crap, that's the first time someone wasn't bs'in me about the car they drove and what was under the hood. he said he was upset that he wasn't going to be unique anymore. i just told him to get a minvan and put the vette motor in that. you'd be unique then for a lot longer than you were with that vette SUV. i don't think even GM would make a SS minivan... or would they.. hmmmmmmm
Well I had to look it up and in an 06 you can get Vortec 4200 Six-cylinder, Vortec 5300 V8(with DOD), or even LS2 6.0 Liter V8 with cold air induction in a trailblazer.
A teacher that I had in vo-tech had a new Oldsmobile 88 back in the early 1990's with a "new" aircondition that used R134A. GM had given him a 100km warrentee and maintenance up to 100km. All he had to do is fill out a questioner, write down the meter numbers and take the car in to GM for any problems.
GM has been known to do that- but the vehicles are on loan, and eventually wind up in the crusher. "Selling" implies all safety and smog certification is done, and on "mules" it's still work in progress.

Hmmmmmmm........Utah? 8 kids? Don't blame the military...could it be because he's...........................................MOR MON
He doesn't make you guys sell magazine subscriptions; does he???
yea, I doubt the military had anything to do with the person your dad is, well maybe the cleaning of the house part of him is. 4 grand a month sounds good though! Just tell him to go get a job when he makes you mad lol.
Well a SS trailblazer doesn't suprise me, I just don't see the point of buying a SUV with a LS2 in it.
har har har.. i grew up in washington. my dad is catholic and my mom is mormon, created problems because apparently catholics don't believe in god, they believe in alcohol and beatings. i won't say that the military made him into what he is today, i'll just say it didn't help it any. i've heard his "stories" of what him and others did over there. he was one of the first ones sent over in 64 so he had plenty of time to develop after his military career of less than a year due to retiring at the age of 20. and that 4 grand a month is more than he's supposed to get, it should be like half that. it's supposed to be supplemental as in.. if he can work, he's supposed to.
and i would tell him to get a job, but he's not here right now, he lives in idaho. thank god. i personally think the government should make it illegal to let guys have kids at the age he was having them. who wants a dad that's 60 and can't do anything with you when you're 16. my oldest brother is old enough to be my youngest brothers dad. 18 years difference.
But anyway. trailblazer. i was thinking it was weird to want a sports car engine in an SUV. i mean.. would an LS2 make a good towing engine? or does it not even matter. i'd just assume that someone would buy an SUV because they want some sport out of it.. hence the S in SUV.. but a lot of people around here use there SUV's to pull trailers and boats and all sorts of stuff. i mean.. i saw a VW teureg (however you spell it) towing a 25 foot boat behind it. i was like wth.. that boat was WAAAAY bigger than that VW.
"because apparently catholics don't believe in god, they believe in alcohol and beatings" lol! Your dad remind's me of billy bob thornton in "bad santa"
This whole LS2 trailblazer makes me think about the "hemi" ram. High reving engines with no low-end, in automobiles that are supposed to be used for towing and hauling. Well the average SUV around here is used as a daily driver with no intentions of towing.
