Hello everyone, my first time here. I hope I don't embarrass myself
with this question. Could someone tell me or tell me where to find
all the steps/parts required to change a 64 grill to a 66. Thank you
in advance. The truck is a 64 with a 64 grill on it. Thanks.
I was once told that there are no dumb questions.
I would think that it would be close to a direct bolt in. My 65 bolts mostly to the turn signal bar at top and splash gaurd at the bottom, there are also some bolts that connect it to the radiator support. My brother owns a 64 but I have never compaired the way the two mount. You may has to change the section above the grill because the 64 has turn signals in the grill the 66 has them in th rail above the grill like the 65.
FWIW, I've got an earlier upper valence, not sure what year, but it doesn't have turn signals in it. It's on my 65 and the bolt locations across the top of the grill don't line up between the two. Seems like the earlier valence wanted 6 and the 65 grill only has 4, all in the wrong places. The ends of the valence bolted into the fenders just fine tho.
I haven't got around to it yet but I'll just drill the early valence to match the 65 grill.
Could be there's other differences that may make it difficult to impossible to put the 66 grill on the 64 tho. I really don't know but everyone here says the core supports that the grill attach too are year specific.
That probably didn't help much, lol, but I'd bet the holes across the top won't match.
As far as I know that the only place they are different. (the upper panel) I'm putting a 65/66 upper panel on my 64 and had to change the bolt holes slightly. I think it has two more holes. (can't remember now) Phil

Seriously, Charlie and I are good friends. We would both love to have you join our meeting, and show off your truck.
