I have a gas 2000 F-250 extended cab, 5.4 and 3.65 gears. I get 12.5 miles to the gallon on the highway and 10.2 towing. I am looking to purchace a K&N high performance air intake in order to increase my gas milage.
Question 1: If my truck runs at 80MPH on the highway at 2300 RPM's How will I see the increase HP of 10.9HP@4480RPM's as advertised with this new filter?
Question 2: Can anyone recommend a good 4 inch exhust system and computer chip?
I have an '03 ex-cab 5.4 w/3.73's. I used the FIPK kit with a power aid throttle body spacer, hypertech tuner (87 oct setting) and a flowmaster 50 series 3" in/out w/stock pipes. If I keep it under 75mph I'll get about 15-16mpg and 13.5-14 towing Hwy. Around town I get about 12-13mpg. You will make more power with the filter kit but the greatest gains are at high RPM's.

Welcome to FTE. You will only see a few hp at 2300rpms. Will you feel it? No Will you feel 10hp at 4480rpms? No. Will you gain any substantial mpg? No. A 4" exhaust is way over kill for the 5.4L V8. Just add a cat-back of your favorite brand. All the $$ thrown at mods to gain mpg will never be returned in savings. Remember you're pushing a huge truck down the road. Don't expect good mpg. You'll never get more than maybe 1-2 mpg with all mods combined.
