I have an 84 F150 2wd that is bone stock. Seeing as how it is only 2wd I only plan on putting a mud tire on the rear and leaving a street tire around abouts of a 235/75/r15 on the front. My question lies in how i can only lift the rear end. My friend is getting a bigger lift soon and so he`ll give me the tires he has on his truck now. They are a 33/12.5/15 Buckshot mudder. I didnt know if the difference in size would make the tilt too much. If it wouldnt then I was just wondering a way to lift up the rear to fit them. I plan on only running the mudders on the weekends when I actually go. Also the stuff we get into isnt too viscious but just enough thats its easy to get stuck in with the tires i have now. Its also not too hard on the truck moreso just playing around a bit. Other question is if i had the front end tilted more would it make the front end dive in to the ground too much.Any help would be great and if anyone sees any problems with my logic feel free to shoot holes all in it. Thanks
well the major problem with lifting the rear end is it puts the weight forward on the tires that aren't driving anything. But you can get the under spring blocks from a 4x4, and put under the rear leafs this will give you about 2-3" of lift I normally don't recommend blocks but for what your doing they will probably be fine, and were stock on the 4x4s anyway.
as far as putting weight on the front end would it be helpful or hurt me more if i put sanbags in the back to compensate for the weight or would that juse screw my back end over and sink me. As for the blocks would i be able to pull some off a truck in the junk yard or would i need to buy new ones. Thought of another question too concerning my air intake. Would it be too hard to fab up a snorkel because as it is water is a problem for my carb with the stock intake through the grille. Last question is would it be better to do blocks like you said or I just saw fishmans shackle flip. Would the four inches be overboard? And then with the blocks how much do you think I would be rubbing. And then would i be able to use the blocks off any 80-96 4x4 and would it only be able to be a 150 or could i use a 250s blocks. Thanks
you can get blocks off a truck in a junkyard but I would buy new ubolts. yes 80-96 would be fine no the tires shouldn't rub with those, yes 4" would be too much, yes you can put sandbags in the back if you think you need it, and yes you can build a snorkle if you want I have a link to a place that makes a pretty cool aircleaner box but pretty expensive so maybe someone else will chime in about the snorkle thing I don't worry about it myself but different situation although it's my thought that if your in deep enough stuff to need a snorkle you probably need a 4x4
Do i not need to worry about the water than because I never stay under water I just didnt know if water got splashe up into the intake or if i dipped down a little low if it would affect my motor. I appreciate the help
