OK Guys, need some advice. I was talking with a diesel mechanic and he said that over a period or time, (unknown to him) that the injector 0-rings need replacing. What the heck is he saying? What simptoms will be present? And finally, if I ever them, should I at the same time replace the injectors with better ones and would the HPOP be able to supply the fuel with performance mod injectors?
Injector o-rings can degrade to the point they need replacing. Initial symptoms can be a really dark, oily fuel filter, but that can be decieving because age can do the same thing to the filter. When an injector o-ring fails it is normally accompanied by a loud knocking from that cylinder as well as heavy smoke from the tailpipe.
Bad o-rings does not neccesitate replacing the injectors with performance versions, but if you do change them the type of injector will determine if the HPOP can flow enough.
Thanks Cookie88. I am sure my O-rings are fine, at least at this moment, but I just want to be ready and to what to look for. I am replacing my fuel filter this week and will make a good inspection. My exhaust is of good color. Thanks to barebackjack as well.
This, I feel, is a very good question. I had 3 bad injectors, and bad o-rings on two others, while still under waranty. I was wondering when to change them out, maint. wise. I guess it's just kind of a wait and see game.

WA Ranger, I am wondering if your SES light came on in conjunction with you Injectors. I surely don't want to confuse a stumbling injector with the dreaded CPS.
