What's the best size jets (prim and secondary) for me to run? I have a 390 built to stock factory 74 specs, an Edelbrock 650 cfm, headers to 2.5" pipe. I really want to dial it in if I can, so I thought I'd ask the experts here before I order them. I dont know much about jet sizing so I could use some help here please. THANKS!!!!
I'll try lookin up those references at work tomarrow, but I doubt any of the books would cross those over. I've never touched jets before (well, in snowmobiles I guess) Do they change over, like holleys fitting in edelbrock carbs?
they are different.
Is your carb still stock setup then? Is it a 1406? The stock setup should be pretty close to where you want to be, maybe a tad lean. I run my cruise circuit one stage richer than stock, the 2ndaries are still stock I think. I have the eddie rod/jet kit, plus a few extras that I can rent out...
Go to jegs.com or summitracing.com and look up the holley jet sizes. Write down the "actual" size and then go look up the Edelbrock jet sizes. Of course keeping in mind, that the Edelbrock also uses the metering rods...which effects the circuit.
$40 buys you the kit which has about 5 sets of rods and jets for the edelbrock. Individual rod sets are about $10.
Individual rod sets are like $6.99 from summit
Jets are only like $2.99 from summit
Whole kit is $49 I think...
Scooter, I have a book that tells you what rod jet combo to go with to accomplish what you want for each model carb, email me or messenger me and tell me what you wanna do and we'll chat. If Jim doesnt have time or isnt available I can help you do Jets and Rods too, it will take us about 10 minutes, its pretty easy....
