3g alt conversion
I have a 1989 F-Super duty with a 460 v8 it has your standard 2g alternator on it. I want to put the 3g conversion on.But the bolt spacing on the 2g is approx 6 3/4 inches the spacing on the Taraus 3g is approx 8 inchs the top bracket on this engine doesn't pivot to make up the difference there are two diffrent 3g alts a 5 3/4 case which the Taraus uses at 130 amps and a 5 1/4 case which is a 95-105 amp unit I have a 95 f250 460 and it uses the smaller cased altenator and iam sure it would bolt right in to my brackets they look and measure to be the same. My question is did Ford use the big case 3g on 460's if so what models so i can go hunt up the brackets. The wiring is not a trick I can do that in my sleep.
