This is the craziest thing ... not crazy that I need to replace the high-mount brake light socket because it melted (likely due to corrosion on/around the contacts), but because I am having so much trouble finding a replacement socket to wire in!
All of the local auto parts stores carry various headlight wiring sockets and pigtails, and even some tail/brake light ones (for 1057, etc.). But, so far I haven't found anything in a store or online for a 912 bulb which is what the high-mount brake light is.
Any suggestions on where I can find this? I never imagined I would have any difficulty at all locating this!
My freind went to the dealer and bought the whole third brake/cargo light kit that included the sockets bulbs gasket and wiring pig tail for around $50.
He has an edge and it didnt come with the cargo light plus it was leaking. The new kit he got at the dealer is excellent and doesnt leak a drop.
