I'm a dope.
45 minutes later, the kids and I get ready to leave, and I realize that my SUburban keys are in the car, great.
Then I think, "No problem, we'll take the liner". I would just use the hide-a-key to get into it and get my daughter's booster seat. Then I realized that I'd taken that key off the sub, because I wasn't satisfied with the mount location. (this is strike 2). (Just before I realized that I'd removed the hide-a-key, I'd locked the front door (of course, that day I remembered to lock ALL the doors).)
Again I think, "no problem", Gabrielle will be sitting in the back seat of the Liner anyway, and I'll just use the lap belt for her, and she can ride home in my car with Michele. SO, after the boys get done arguing about who called shotgun, we get in the truck and are ready to go. Here's the dope part. After I drove the Liner a week ago, I forgot to shut off the fuel pump (I still have the fuel selector from the propane kit, because the fuel pump wants to run all the time).
At this point, the kids and I are sitting in the truck, that is completely dead, and out of gas (because the fuel pump pumped all the fuel to the front tank (which I can't use normally). Oh yeah, remember when I locked the house? I locked the back garage door too, and my house keys were with my suburban keys, so I also broke a window to get in the door, so I could attempt to use the camper battery in the truck (it's dead too, some dope put it on the concrete floor).
When my wife calls to find out where we're at (because I was supposed to usher for service), she just laughed when I told her. Then, when she got home, she gave me one of those "sometimes I feel like I have 4 children" looks.
(especially since it happened to someone else.) There are definitely days that you should do absolutely nothing, cause it isn't going to go right anyway.
Hang in there, things can only go up hill now.
My kids are now absolutely convinced that they can't close the front door, until they know that I have everything, and we're mobile.
Paul.
