bummed out
Anyone else have any problems with cooling system hoses exploding? Had my heater hose explode tonite and truck lost all of its antifreeze. Sux I had a good relationship with my motor till this. 2002 5.4 F-250 54,000 miles..seems to soon for hoses to be letting go...hope it ain't head gaskets..grrrrr.

Do you have silicone hoses or the old rubber type? I'm not sure when they switched to silicone but this type of hose is very vulnerable to abbrasions. They are great as far as being impervious to oil rot and aging but they will rupture if they chaffe on something. I noticed on my 2003 that the two silicone heater hoses would rub against the AC evaporator core metal shield. (That silver aluminum thing that looks like a cheese-grater.) They had a bunch of surface scratches at just 10K miles already, so I shielded them with convoluted plastic shielding. Problem solved.

Also the lower hose on a 5.4l runs very close to the steering box.
When mine was new ,just delivered the hose was rubbing.
Also the factory spring clamps are known to break and the hose just blows off.
Just a few added 2 cents.
