Setting floats

Im trying to set the floats on my Holley 4180.

When I turn the screw to the left to turn the adjusting nut gas pours out of the screw. Is this normal? I turned the adjusting nut all the way to the right to lower the float level, and gas is just below the sight plug but the truck still wont idle well.

Yes it is normal to get gas when you loosen the retaining screw.
Just below the site plug is where it should be. There are 4 hidden idle mixture screws on a 4280. The access plugs must be drilled out in the baseplate.

Thanks for the reply, but I just ordered an Edelbrock 600 cfm. That pretty much solves my float problems. LOL

I've had good luck with the Edelbrocks myself.
