1979 catalytic converters

1979 catalytic converters
my brother in law just baught a 1979 F250 2wd with a 460 and a C6 auto tranny. it has all the smog equpiment, except for the catalytic converters. is there a special cat that he has to put on the truck? or can he get a universal cat? on some trucks, i have seen two cats, but im, not sure what is needed on this truck. it is a california truck, so the people here are strict about smog. what do you guys think?

I think since its the great state of Kommifornia that you should call your department that is responsible for testing motor vehicles (whatever it may be called) and ask what your truck needs to have as far as Cats are concerned. Or go visit them, thats their job....
